POSITION SUMMARY:

The Coordinator of Technical Operations position is responsible for collaborating with department administrators, consultants, and end users to architect and implement technology initiatives. Coordinates projects and day to day activities for the Technical Operations team. Works closely with district leadership to ensure that end users are receiving the highest quality of service possible from the Department of Technology Technical Operations team.  Works closely with the Director of Technical Operations to ensure implementation of district level strategic goals and initiatives. This position will report to the Director of Technical Operations.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leads, directs, and develops network security, data center operations, end user computing, and field support strategies. Responsible for providing a high level of supervision and evaluative feedback for multiple personnel and functions. Directs and leads subordinates to develop network, security, data center operations and field support strategies. Provides technical operational strategies to support educational initiatives as directed by the Director of Technical Operations. Directs and leads subordinates to provide technical support and security for teachers, staff, and district personnel. Delegates on-site technical support or assist subordinates performing on-site technical support needed to implement district supported technology initiatives.

 

Works closely with and assist the Director of Technical Operations and the Technical Operations team on the implementation of district digital resources, as it relates to digital resources supporting the core curriculum and other CCPS programs. Works collaboratively with district personnel to plan and prepare for integrating technology to support the core curriculum in a secure and safe manner across the district.

 

Coordinates and supports complex projects associated with technology initiatives throughout the district.  Coordinate daily activities of Technical Operations team to ensure operational efficiency and maximize the use of technical resources. Ensure technical operations staff have proper training and tools to effectively deliver resources in a timely and efficient manner.

 

Collaboratively works with the Director of Technical Operations to create a strong alliance with the Information Systems and Instructional Technology teams in the Department of Technology to support district goals. Attends and participates in school board meetings, district committees, and task forces.

 

All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.

 

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a current and industry-recognized technical certification relevant to the position required (i.e., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert [MCSE], Microsoft Certified Applications Developer [MCAD], Cisco Certified Network Associate [CCNA], ITIL Foundation, or equivalent).

 

Certification must demonstrate foundational knowledge and skills in information technology, technical support, networking, or a related field.

 

Researches, evaluates, and makes decisions and recommendations which routinely affect the activities of others

 

Highly complex; coordinator is available to review established departmental and/or organizational objectives. Independent judgement is required to recommend departmental or organizational strategies and objectives.

 

Maintain and share/submit documentation of all work performed. Maintain and share/submit professional calendar of all work planned/performed. Requires regular contact with internal personnel of importance and influence.

Researches, applies, implements, and provides direction on highly advanced technology concepts and methodologies to include servers, storage, network communications, network security, virtualization, data center operations, end user computing, operating systems, Windows imaging, and endpoint security. 

 

Normal office setting.

 

Moderate travel across the district with occasional travel for off-site training.

 

Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Intermittent walking is required. Moderate lifting or carrying; fifty (50) lbs. or less.

 

NOTE: This is a grade 30, 225-day position that pays for experience up to a Step 8.
