POSITION SUMMARY:

Assists technicians in the care and maintenance of all Clayton County Public Schools grounds.  This position also assists in the small engine repair shop.  Knowledge in processing paperwork electronically utilizing Word, Excel, Outlook, and Google.  This position reports to the Landscape Services Supervisor.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs lawn care at all assigned CCPS facilities.

 

Cleans graffiti from exterior of buildings.

 

Restocks service vehicles daily.

 

Performs maintenance and repair of CCPS small engine equipment.

 

Assists with District and emergency and/or general assignments as operationally necessary.

 

All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.

 

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or GED required; Trade specific certificate preferred

 

Minimum of one (1) year of lawn care experience preferred

 

Makes repair decisions which impact the schools/buildings within the district 

 

Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred

 

Makes decisions and recommendations under the guidance of Grounds Supervisor

 

Requires contact with internal and external personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of importance

 

Requires minimal managerial skills

 

Familiarity with computer applications preferred   

 

Minimal-major depending on task being performed

 

Variable work environment – Facility Services Complex, school grounds, and all buildings; subjected to a wide range of weather conditions and temperatures

 

May be on call after normal work hours (24 hours a day, seven days a week) and in emergency situations

 

Walking, standing, kneeling, driving for eight (8) hours per day; must be able to climb a thirty (30) foot ladder and negotiate stairs

 

Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds frequently and one (100) pounds occasionally.

 

Before being extended an offer of employment, selected candidates will be notified by the district to undergo the required physical examination for this position. 

 

 

NOTE: This is a grade 18, 225-day position that pays for experience up to a Step 4.
