POSITION SUMMARY:
Participates in the planning, design and execution of the projects within the CCPS Facilities Plan and other assigned construction projects. Monitors installations to confirm adherence to industry standards, completes weekly field and design status reports, coordinates construction schedule with school activities, and accepts furniture deliveries. This position reports to the Capital Projects Executive. This is a Special Revenue funded position. Funding is dependent upon renewal and allocation of Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funding.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attends design and progress review meetings. Assists in monitoring design documents’ progress for scope, cost and schedule adherence. Meets regularly with Architects, Engineers, Contractors, Principals and interdepartmental representatives during the design process.
Performs daily field inspections of construction projects, and prepares daily and weekly field reports. Inspects and monitors construction to evaluate work product to ensure conformance to design specifications and requirements. Reviews assigned project reports, architect and contractor pay requests, and change order requests. Procures project related ancillary furniture, furnishings, and equipment and monitors installation. Manages the end-user service level experience.
Reads and interprets construction documents and drawings. Assists in maintaining department specifications/drawings and document control.
Assists Senior Project Managers in managing and researching necessary ongoing updates to the CCPS Design Guidelines as requested by Operations, Technology, and Curriculum departments.
Meets with interagency governmental groups, inspectors, and fire marshal to procure permits, certificate of occupancy, and final inspections. Collaborates with Department of Education and utility providers in managing and completing the local facilities plan and reimbursement programs.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED certificate required.
Minimum of two (2) years’ commercial construction experience required.
Makes recommendations which routinely affect the organization and/or the surrounding community in a demonstrable way. Requires excellent planning and organizational skills required to manage projects effectively.
Valid Georgia Driver's license required.
Independent judgment is required along with ability to work with minimal supervision and make decisions.
Requires regular contact and the ability to interact effectively with internal personnel of influence, to discuss issues of moderate importance.

Responsible for supervising/making recommendations oversight of multiple construction projects.
Applies, recommends, and implements basic technology concepts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Maintenance Department. Must be well-versed in office management software (i.e., Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Google Suite, etc.). Must have expertise in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical plans.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office setting; construction site. Must adhere to all safety guidelines of the construction site at all times. Variable work environment - 50% outdoors; must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Typically sitting at a desk or table Intermittently sitting, standing, stooping. Typically standing and/or walking. Typically pushing and/or pulling. Requires repeated reaching by extending hand(s) and/or arm(s) in any direction.
Moderate lifting; may be required to carry fifty (50) lbs. or less.
Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevations sixty (60) feet, or on high-rise rooftop locations.
NOTE: This is a grade 21, 225 day position that pays for experience up to a Step 4.
