POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides in the field supervision, management, and training to Mechanic II positions. Performs skilled repair, installation, and preventative maintenance on all high and low voltage electrical equipment inside and outside of all District buildings. This position reports to the Electrical Supervisor.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides field supervision, management, guidance, and assistance to Mechanic II. Assists with project management, while training on assigned duties. Performs all electrical repairs and installations using standard electrical codes and appropriate safety procedures; accurately diagnoses all electrical malfunctions. Reports progress to employee and department supervisor. Provides direct assistance to contractors assigned to school/job sites with operational tasks as needed.

 

Performs preventative maintenance as required on various equipment and fixtures inside and outside of all District buildings.

 

Operates different tools and equipment (i.e., electric screwdrivers, conduit bender, small drills, small soldering irons, voltage meters, etc.) relevant to repairs and installations. Assumes responsibility for all assigned parts, tools, and vehicles; have ready access to all equipment issued.

 

Assists with District and emergency and/or general assignments as operationally necessary.

 

All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.

 

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or GED required.

 

Minimum of two (2) years of commercial electrical experience required.

 

Makes repair decisions which impact the schools/buildings within the District.

 

Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred; electrical certificate preferred.

 

Makes decisions and recommendations under the guidance of Electrical Supervisor

 

Requires regular, frequent contact with internal and external personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of importance; may require occasional contact with outside agencies and the District.

 

Provides field supervision, training, guidance, and safety management to Mechanic II positions.

 

Applies, recommends, and implements technology concepts to improve the effectiveness of the department. Familiarity and knowledge of computer applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Google Suite).

 

Variable work environment – Facilities Services Complex, school grounds, and all buildings; subjected to a wide range of weather conditions and temperatures

 

Provides periodic on-call support after normal work hours (twenty-four [24] hours a day, seven [7] days a week) to alleviate emergency situations.

 

Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds frequently and one-hundred (100) pounds occasionally

 

Walking, standing, kneeling, driving for eight (8) hours per day; must be able to climb a thirty (30) foot ladder and negotiate stairs 

 

Before being extended an offer of employment, selected candidates will be notified by the district to undergo the required physical examination for this position. 

 

NOTE: This is a grade 21, 225-day position that pays for experience up to a Step 4.
