POSITION SUMMARY:

Installs filter in HVAC equipment on an assigned route. Responsible for monthly tower and boiler inspections. Oversees water treatment program at assigned schools. Assists technicians with daily repairs when needed.  This position reports to the HVAC Supervisor.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains filters on HVAC equipment on assigned school route.

 

Assists Mechanic III on daily repairs when needed.

 

Performs activities to ensure the efficient operation of the HVAC and maintenance departments.

 

Performs monthly safety checks on cooling towers and boilers on assigned route.

 

Monitors chemical levels on water treatment program at assigned schools.

 

Assists with District and emergency and/or general assignments as operationally necessary.

 

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or GED required.

 

HVAC experience preferred.

 

Makes repair decisions which impact the schools/buildings within the district.

 

Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.

 

Makes decisions and recommendations under the guidance of HVAC Supervisor, Mechanic III, and Mechanic IV.

 

Requires regular, frequent contact with internal and external personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of importance.

 

Applies, recommends, and implements technology concepts to improve the effectiveness of the department. Familiarity and knowledge of computer applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Google Suite).

 

Responsible for the welfare of others: Minimal-major depending on task being performed.

 

Variable work environment – Facilities Services, school grounds, and all buildings; subjected to a wide range of weather conditions and temperatures.

 

May be on call after normal work hours (24 hours a day, seven days a week) and in emergency situations.

 

Walking, standing, kneeling, driving for eight (8) hours per day; must be able to climb a thirty (30) foot ladder and negotiate stairs.

 

Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds frequently and one-hundred (100) pounds occasionally.

 

Before being extended an offer of employment, selected candidates will be notified by the district to undergo the required physical examination for this position. 

 

 

NOTE: This is a grade 18, 225-day position that pays for experience up to a Step 4.
