POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs custodial duties required to maintain cleanliness, sanitary, and safety of assigned school or location. This position reports to the school principal or building designee.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cleans classrooms, restrooms, offices, dining areas; mops floors, vacuums, strips floors, buffs and wax floors, empties trash; cleans windows; picks up trash on school grounds as required/directed; changes light bulbs, replaces ceiling tiles, moves furniture, removes graffiti from inside of location, and secures building upon daily departure.

 

Operates various commercial custodial equipment (i.e. scrubber, buffer, commercial vacuum cleaner, ladder, wet vacuum, shampoo machine.  Maintains cleanliness of custodial equipment.  Responsible for the set up/break down for events at the assigned school/location.

 

Completes commercial custodial inventory counts, and orders supplies as required.  Maintains cleanliness and organization of custodial closet.

 

Assists with District emergency and/or general assignments as operationally necessary.

 

All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or GED preferred.  Must be able to speak, write, and read English fluently.

 

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in commercial facility cleaning preferred.

 

Makes decisions which impact all staff/students of assigned building.

 

Makes decisions and recommendations under the guidance of school principal or designee.

 

Requires regular contact with internal and external personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of importance.

 

Familiarity with computer applications (Word, Google email) preferred.

 

Responsibility for the Welfare of Others: Minimal-major depending on task being performed

 

Variable work environment – School grounds, and all buildings; subjected to a wide range of weather conditions and temperatures. 

 

May be on call after normal work hours and in emergency situations (twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week).

 

Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds frequently and one (100) pounds occasionally. 

 

Walking, standing, kneeling, bending for eight (8) hours per day; must be able to climb a thirty (30) foot ladder and negotiate stairs.

 

NOTE: This is a grade 13, 225 day position that pays for experience up to a Steps 6 to step 8.
