POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Teacher performs a variety of tasks to support the coordination of successful implementation of K-12 Health and Physical Education (PE) curriculum.  Promotes and supports effective Health/PE instruction and integration designed to increase student achievement. Engages the Health/PE community, partners, and leaders to support and sustain Health/PE programs and initiatives. Collaborates with key district departments to ensure the coordination of district-wide Health/PE programs. Supports the procurement of grants to support, enhance, and sustain Health/PE initiatives in the district. Supports school level Health/PE practices to ensure state and federal regulations and compliance.  This position reports to the K-12 Health/PE Coordinator.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborates and engages in ongoing communication with key district departments to ensure the coordination of district-wide Health/PE programming/core curricula. Coordinates and/or collaborates with other departments to implement Health/PE based special projects and/or initiatives: District level competitions, participation in advisory committees, etc. 

 

Participates in regularly scheduled district and regional meetings; communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders; engages in vertical articulation of district K-12 instructional goals and objectives; assists with selection, implementation, and evaluation of a variety of student enrichment programs (e.g. summer internships, school partnerships, virtual learning).

 

Supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of K-12 Health/PE programming/core curricula and supports district and school based innovative practices and special programs/projects; promotes and supports effective Health/PE instruction, integration, and special programs/projects designed to increase student achievement.

 

Engages Health/PE partners, industry leaders, and community members to support and sustain Health/PE programs and initiatives.   Supports the design, implementation, and evaluation of Health/PE integration, research-based practices, and professional learning for teachers and leaders.

 

Supports school level Health/PE materials and resources to meet state and federal regulations and compliance in partnership with school level leadership.

 

All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above

services.

 

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree in education, core content area or Educational Leadership required.

 

Minimum of five (5) years of teaching and leadership experience in an education environment.

 

Requires inter-division coordination; makes decisions and recommendations which affect the assigned division, but at times affects others outside of the assigned division.

 

Certification at level- 5 or higher in the related content field; Leadership certification preferred.

 

High level of judgment: supervisor will review established broad objectives and approve executive-level decisions. 

 

Requires regular, frequent contact with internal personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance.  Excellent interpersonal skills are required for interacting and working with various levels of individuals.

Requires excellent written and verbal skills.

NOTE: This is a grade 28, 225 day position that pays for experience up to the midpoint salary.
