POSITION SUMMARY:

The Virtual Learning Support Specialist (VLSS) will support virtual learning objectives including educational content delivery, academic applications, and technology integration; collaborate with teachers to integrate technology tools that support pedagogical practices to deliver content and assess learning using the district learning management system as the hub for instruction and course materials.  Additionally, the VLSS serves as the primary contact for all aspects of the CCPS Virtual Learning Program’s (VLP) website, mobile application, social media, print media, and hub, handling a range of responsibilities including but not limited to graphic web design and development, routine site maintenance, and updating content.  The goal is to ensure an optimal user experience and alignment of all internal and external media and communication with the goals and objectives of the Clayton County Public Schools Virtual Learning Program, Executive Director, Communications, Public Relations, and Marketing.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coaches and collaborates with VLP teachers to design effective synchronous and asynchronous lessons using web conferencing and interactive instructional and assessment tools, digitize and enhance traditional instructional strategies in the virtual learning environment, and employ best practices for digital course design that optimizes the end user experience using learning management system (LMS) tools to engage and communicate with learners and caregivers. 

 

Creates, leads, and manages digital, print, and social media content including but not limited to writing, graphics, and video. Creates comprehensive, measurable goals and strategies for website/ mobile application/ social media/ digital media and supporting staff. Leads creative teams to select the appropriate media for their projects across different media platforms. Remains up to date on current trends and new technologies that will assist the CCPS VLP in communicating to various audiences. Researches other technologies to adequately brand/market the CCPS VLPs internal offerings and services.  

 

Works with identified vendor to troubleshoot matters associated with the CCPS VLP website, portal, mobile application and recommends key tools to support on-going short and long-term usage.

 

Assists faculty and staff with virtual learning capabilities, technical questions, and individualized troubleshooting.  Documents and defines needs and/or requirements for virtual learning. All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Computer Science, or related field required.

 

Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience required.

 

Makes recommendations or decisions which usually affect the entire CCPS VLP K-12.

 

GaPSC certification at level-4 or higher required. Google Certification(s) preferred.

 

Varied; supervisor is available to review established broad objectives; independent judgment is required.  

 

Requires regular, frequent communication with internal school administrative personnel.

 

Requires regular, frequent communication with different constituencies: external agencies, parents, community etc.

 

Must be organized, self-motivated, and able to effectively coordinate and multi-task for management of duties and time.

 

Educational technology, instructional technology; Google Workspace for Education, digital assessment platforms like Illuminate, and a working understanding of student information systems like Infinite Campus. 

 

Virtual classroom setting. Required to report to Central Office South CCPS VLP.

 

Must be able to sit and stand approximately seven (7) to seven and one-half (7½) hours per day. 

 

NOTE: This is a grade 25, 225 day position
