POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides assistance and support to the Executive Director of Business Services in the annual budget development process for the District. Requires constant collaboration with the Budget Department to ensure validation of funding before a position action/ staffing is executed in the organization. Provides leadership in developing and maintaining school allotment and fiduciary compliance. Serves as the District contact to support the online application system (TalentEd) used by the district to review requisitions and post vacant positions. This position reports to the Executive Director of Business Services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates the overall staffing of department and schools. Oversees the position control function for the district, including monitoring and reconciling staffing and positions with the Human Resources and Business Services Departments and validating the position requisitions submitted into TalentEd from hiring managers in the district. Assigns position control and class code data to the positions and posts requested positions. Analyzes, develops, manages and presents projections to determine personnel needs at schools; determines budgetary amounts; maintains headcount changes in schools as enrollment changes in allotted positions; determines movement requests to maintain schools in full time equivalency compliance; conducts meetings and training with administrators (principals, directors, and coordinators).
Assists the Chief Financial Officer in the annual budget development process for the School District. Assists with the monthly review of all budgeted funds.
Posts all budget transfers as directed by the Chief Financial Officer. Adds accounts as requested to facilitate the budget and grants process. Maintains a variety of records, reports, documents and files as directed and distribute reports as requested.
Assists with the year-end close process. Performs technical work, involving the use of independent judgment and understanding of departmental functions and procedures. Inquires and obtains information as directed, which may involve contact with department and school administrators.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible fiscal experience in accounting, budgeting, or personnel required; preferably in a School District or local/state government agency. Leadership or supervisory experience required.
Prior experience coordinating financial operations in a K-12 public school setting or governmental entity; makes decisions and final recommendations which routinely affect the activities of others.
High level of judgment: supervisor is available to review established broad objectives and approve executive-level decisions.
Requires regular, frequent contact with internal personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance. Excellent interpersonal skills are required for interacting and working with various levels of individuals. Communicates with hiring managers if requisitioned positions need updates.
