POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists Director of Facilities Services and Operations in providing direction and leadership to the Electronics, Buildings, Warehouse, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Landscape Services, and Environmental Services departments. Attends internal, district, state meetings and conferences, to assist in developing safety protocols. Performs administrative, supervisory, and management functions in various maintenance areas. This position reports to the Director of Facilities Services and Operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists the Director of Facilities Services and Operations in all departmental operations and personnel supervision according to district policy. Administers and processes maintenance and/or construction projects from contractors. Ensures completion of maintenance projects. Recommends and sets priorities for repair projects. Researches, assesses, and procures personal protective equipment (PPE) and associated life/safety technology for facility health.
Participates in planning, designing, and implementation of all new construction projects within the district. Develops, reviews, and implements cost effective operating procedures. Maintains accurate records of preventative maintenance, schedules, job completions, and equipment inventories.
Assists with budget preparation for Facilities Services department. Oversees employee-training programs to increase skills and proficiency for all Facilities Services employees.
Assists with district and emergency and/or general assignments as operationally necessary.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
State construction industry trade license required. Associate’s degree with an industry related concentration preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of facilities maintenance experience with a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience required.
Makes repair decisions which affect the Facilities Services Department and buildings within the district.
Valid driver's license required.
Makes decisions and recommendations which affect all departments and locations of Clayton County Public Schools.
Requires contact with internal and external personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of importance; excellent interpersonal and networking skills required.
Provides training and guidance to Facilities Services Department employees
Applies, recommends, and implements highly advanced technology concepts to improve organization-wide efficiency and effectiveness or has final approval of technology applications to be used throughout the district.
Variable work environment – Facilities Services Complex, school grounds, and all buildings; subjected to a wide range of weather conditions and temperatures.
Will be on call after normal work hours (twenty-four [24] hours a day, seven [7] days a week) and in emergency situations
Heavy lifting: Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds frequently and one-hundred (100) pounds occasionally.
Walking, standing, kneeling, driving for eight (8) hours per day; must be able to climb a thirty (30) foot ladder and negotiate stairs.
NOTE: This is a grade 29, 225-day position that pays for experience up to a Step 8. |
