POSITION SUMMARY:
Supervises activities of Mechanics II, III, IV, and Energy Management team. Responsible for duties and supervision of projects as assigned. Represents the HVAC Department and the Facilities Services Department as required. This position reports to the Facilities Services Coordinator.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises and coordinates maintenance and repairs of all district HVAC equipment. Monitors and manages department budget.
Distributes work orders to Mechanics II, III, IV, and Energy Management team. Meets with vendors regarding HVAC projects. Works with district warehouse regarding district filter contract. Assists Construction Department with new builds and renovations.
Performs onsite inspections of work orders and contracted work.
Recommends and implements department personnel development and training.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree or HVAC technical college degree preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years in a leadership role in general commercial facility maintenance or closely related field required. HVAC experience in an educational setting preferred.
Makes decisions which impact staff, facilities, buildings, and Mechanics within the district.
Valid driver’s license required. Universal Certification in Refrigerant Transition and Recovery required. Valid Georgia Conditioned Air Non-Restricted License required.
Makes decisions and recommendations under the guidance and supervision of Coordinators and/or Director.
Requires regular, frequent contact with internal and external personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of importance; may require occasional contact with outside agencies and the District.
Implements, applies, and recommends concepts to improve the effectiveness of the Facilities Services Department.
Applies, recommends, and implements technology concepts to improve the effectiveness of the department. Familiarity and knowledge of computer applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Google Suite).
Conduct daily safety briefings; ensure employees adhere to safe work practices.
Variable work environment – Facilities Services Complex, school grounds, and all buildings; subjected to a wide range of weather conditions and temperatures.
Performs periodic on-call support after normal work hours (twenty-four [24] hours a day, seven [7] days a week) to alleviate emergency situations.
Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds frequently and one-hundred (100) pounds occasionally.
Walking, standing, kneeling, driving for eight (8) hours per day; must be able to climb a thirty (30) foot ladder and negotiate stairs.
Before being extended an offer of employment, selected candidates will be notified by the district to undergo the required physical examination for this position.
NOTE: This is a Grade 27, 225-day position that pays for experience up to a Step 8. |
