POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist with all functions associated with employee certification for the Division of Human Resources and adhering to the state of Georgia bylaws regarding certification requirements, policies, and procedures. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Review, monitor, and process certification transactions (initial, renewal, upgrade, alternative) on the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) website. Complete data entry of certification transactions in an accurate and timely manner in the District's human capital management system. Ensure that all Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) educators hold a valid Georgia Educator’s certificate. Track newly hired educators to assist with completing all aspects of Georgia certification.  Provide consultation to principals, division, and department heads regarding certification. Respond to customer inquiries about becoming a certified educator and determine the appropriate and essential communication. Provide excellent customer service to telephone calls, emails, and in-person appointments.

 

Explain the certification process to potential educators. Maintain current testing information. Work to identify and develop a plan to assist educators seeking to obtain a valid certificate.

 

Assist with job fairs and other events to inform educators of certification requirements. Assist with updating and maintaining records for Certified/Classified Personnel Information (CPI) as needed. 

 

All other duties, as assigned and required, to perform the above services.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or GED required. Associates degree in related field preferred. 

 

Two years in an office/clerical environment required. Experience in human resources and/or knowledge of certification preferred.   

 

Make decisions and recommendations which affect the activities of others.

 

Ability to exercise independent judgment, troubleshoot, and solve problems; ability to work accurately with employee data and records.    

 

Ability to communicate with others effectively and tactfully. Ability to write routine correspondence and speak effectively with internal and external customers.

 

Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office required and knowledge of Munis preferred.

 

NOTE: This is a grade 21, 225 day position that pays for experience up to a Step 4.
